Lymph Drainage

For enhanced preparation and recovery from cosmetic procedures.

This form of gentle massage will help to reduce inflammation, speeding the healing process and recovery. MLD will reduce symptoms of pain, swelling, redness, stiffness and more.

For optimal results, start MLD 2-3 days after surgery.  If you wait 2 or 3 weeks, it will take more effort from your therapist and more sessions as adhesions will start developing, and the chance of developing fibrosis increases.

How often do you need lymph drainage after my surgery?

Daily massage x 5-7 days, then
2-3 per week x 4-6 weeks

Prepare for your massage

Incisions must be bandaged so that no leakage onto skin occurs. Your massage therapist is not allowed to come into contact with bodily fluids.

Arrive early to allow time to remove your supportive garments. Feel free to wear pajamas, or other easily removable clothing to your appointment. A robe will be supplied, if needed. You can bring someone to assist you.

 After your massage

Drink plenty of water before and after your massage to aid in the flushing of your system.  Mild exercise such as 20 to 30 minutes of walking immediately after your massage encourage your lymphatic fluid to continue flowing.
